These fourteen concepts connect folding postures to specific tasks and alternatives.
Real products and web-first tests come before native development. Six ideas focus on beauty.
This is a research snapshot and interactive concept collection; BUILD means a small test is proposed.
## Demand evidence for the six beauty directions
Public evidence supports testing guided makeup practice and professional trial records, but does not establish willingness to pay for a new foldable app.
This report compares six directions through product references, search samples and practical experiments.
Images and the step interface are original concepts, not shipped apps or native device tests.

BUILD = test a small version; WATCH = gather evidence; KILL = do not pursue this round. Search volume, KD, CPC and trend are unknown. Concepts are not implemented product claims.
Try the step layout
This is an interface demo: no camera access, makeup instruction or native app. The buttons demonstrate step navigation.

Opportunity board
Open a card for references, scope, payment hypotheses and stop conditions. Book means side-by-side inner-screen regions; tabletop means upper/lower regions. Inner/outer displays are a separate pattern.
Makeup practice mirror
See your own application and the current instruction while learning eyeliner.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Historical reviews of FaceEcho, formerly ForeverBeauty under the same app ID, describe tutorial-plus-camera viewing. SWAN sells a guided smart mirror. Foldable willingness to pay remains untested.
- First version
- Start with one eyeliner technique: five licensed instruction cards, explicit left/right mirroring, pause and replay. Validate with a webcam page, without automated beauty scoring.
- Payment hypothesis
- Free basic technique; test a one-time lesson pack. Consider subscriptions only after repeat practice.
- Constraints
- Camera latency, gaze angle, hand occlusion and glare may make an optical mirror preferable.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Recruit 10 beginners; compare phone video plus a mirror with guided camera viewing. Record completion, mis-taps, gaze switches and a second session. Pause native work if most prefer the existing setup.

Makeup artist lookbook
Recreate an approved bridal trial with its products and revision notes.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Total Beauty Planner offers bridal profiles, inspiration and consultation records; MYKITCO FACECHARTS LOG records products, techniques and references. These show workflow supply, not verified profit.
- First version
- Tie each photo to a versioned product list and export an approval PDF. Start with a web form and comparison view.
- Payment hypothesis
- Test paid exports or a small professional pilot; later charge per seat. Avoid building booking and payments at the same time.
- Constraints
- Client photos need consent and deletion controls. Unfolding helps consultation but is not essential.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Ask five artists to recreate one consented trial record each. Track reuse and paid exports. Stop if existing tools suffice and nobody wants to switch.
- SEO
- makeup artist client record app · bridal makeup consultation form
Beauty creator capture desk
Check framing, product names and the next shot while filming tutorials.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Apple demonstrates outer-display camera prompting; PromptSmart sells prompting software. The beauty-specific shot checklist is a proposal.
- First version
- A checklist for product close-ups, half-face comparisons and finished looks, linked to captured clips.
- Payment hypothesis
- Test shot templates first; offer a professional subscription only if segmented capture and clip management repeat.
- Constraints
- Accessory availability is constrained; arbitrary background dual-display use is not assumed. Basic prompting faces platform and incumbent substitution.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Have five creators film two short tutorials and compare missing shots and retakes. If a template solves the problem, keep the web product.
- SEO
- beauty video shot list · makeup tutorial teleprompter
Recreate a look with your kit
Check whether owned eyeshadow and lipstick can recreate a reference look.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Makeup inventory and look logging products exist; mapping a reference to owned products still needs validation. A photo cannot establish exact shades.
- First version
- Manually add ten products and annotate one reference look with owned products. Validate data-entry friction first.
- Payment hypothesis
- One-time organization and export purchase; affiliate suggestions only after a user identifies a missing product.
- Constraints
- Catalog entry is costly and products change. Automatic color matching lacks validated accuracy.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Ask eight palette owners to catalog and recreate a look once. Stop if nobody returns after setup.

Cross-brand foundation matching
Use a known matching foundation to shortlist another product and inspect swatches.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Findation maps known shades across brands and offers merchant integration. This supports purchase intent and a B2B model, not an automatic opening for a new entrant.
- First version
- Start with one narrow brand pair and licensed, auditable swatch comparisons. Secure data before development.
- Payment hypothesis
- Affiliate sales or merchant embedding, with attributable purchase conversion.
- Constraints
- Lighting, camera processing, oxidation and batches affect color. Large datasets are hard to reproduce; exact matches cannot be promised.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Deliver ten manual matches within one brand pair and collect post-purchase feedback. Stop without usable swatch data or an advantage over existing tools.

General AR makeup try-on
Preview lipstick, eyeshadow and blush on your own face before buying.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- YouCam Makeup and its web products already offer live or photo try-on, makeup transfer and premium features.
- First version
- Do not build a general product in this round. Reopen only with a specific task or exclusive distribution advantage.
- Payment hypothesis
- Incumbents use consumer subscriptions and brand software; this project has no payment evidence.
- Constraints
- Commoditization, model and licensing costs, skin-tone coverage and inaccurate rendering. A larger screen is not a moat.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Run only five alternative-solution interviews. Close this direction if free YouCam already solves the task.
- SEO
- virtual makeup try on · AI makeup filter
Linked reading and notes
Capture evidence from a PDF and return from a note to its source.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- LiquidText links documents and a workspace; Surface Duo had Acrobat integration partners. This proposed foldable layout is untested.
- First version
- One PDF, excerpts with page backlinks, Markdown export. Defer knowledge graphs and full-document AI chat.
- Payment hypothesis
- Free reading, paid export or sync; test willingness to leave existing note tools.
- Constraints
- Scanned PDFs, handwriting, encryption and complex layouts add extraction costs.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Ask eight readers to extract and verify five citations each. Stop native work if system split-screen suffices.
- SEO
- PDF notes side by side · linked PDF notes
Knitting chart companion
Keep your place in a knitting pattern and resume after a break.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- knitCompanion has row markers, counters and paid features; search also returns free web counters. Basic counting alone has little gap.
- First version
- Import one owned pattern page, synchronize row highlight, save progress and provide undo.
- Payment hypothesis
- Free single project; test a one-time purchase for multiple projects and pattern export.
- Constraints
- Mis-taps can cause rework; paper and physical counters may win.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Six users complete two 20-minute sessions. Test resumption and stop for no reuse or frequent mis-taps.
- SEO
- knitting row counter · knitting pattern tracker
Fiction with a map
Check locations and characters in fantasy fiction without spoilers.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Surface Duo partnered with Kindle; the reading-plus-map concept comes from the supplied Josh Dance image, not a validated business.
- First version
- Start with one public-domain or licensed book and manually link chapters to places.
- Payment hypothesis
- Licensed companion packs or author services; avoid building a paid library first.
- Constraints
- Content rights, spoilers and per-book production cost.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Ten readers try two chapters. Track voluntary map use; stop if novelty fades or content costs cannot be covered.
- SEO
- fantasy book map companion · spoiler free character map
Reference-led drawing
Draw from a reference and compare outlines without switching apps.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Concepts supports reference images and a canvas. A paired layout is transferable, not a foldable feature verified here.
- First version
- Five licensed exercises, pinned references, tracing and overlay comparison.
- Payment hypothesis
- One-time exercise packs; validate critique services separately.
- Constraints
- Pen compatibility and small-canvas comfort need device tests; professional pressure sensitivity is not assumed.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Eight beginners draw two comparable exercises. Stop if the canvas remains too small.
- SEO
- drawing reference app · learn to draw step by step
Score and practice keys
Read, hear and rehearse short melodies away from a piano.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- flowkey offers notation, video and looping. Touch keys are a concept extension, not a replacement for a real piano.
- First version
- Eight bars of public-domain practice, touch sound and slow looping; no full course platform.
- Payment hypothesis
- Practice packs or teacher partnerships; standalone touch keys have a weak payment case.
- Constraints
- Latency, key size, multi-touch and rights.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Six students test short notation and rhythm exercises. Stop if it is only a novelty.
- SEO
- piano sheet music practice · online piano keyboard
Tabletop strategy game
Play short face-to-face sessions with separate display and controls.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Microsoft documented Gameloft separating display and controls on Surface Duo; the naval game is from the supplied concept reference.
- First version
- A browser room code and one short rule set, working across phones first. Hidden-information play needs one device per player.
- Payment hypothesis
- One-time game pack; first validate invitations and rematches.
- Constraints
- Requiring two foldables is restrictive; one display cannot automatically conceal opponents' information.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Five pairs play three rounds. Stop if rematches depend only on device novelty.
- SEO
- two player strategy game · local multiplayer browser game
Bilingual close reading
Read foreign-language text with sentence lookup, shadowing and saved vocabulary.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- LingQ offers reading, listening and saved vocabulary. Synchronized panes are a transferable workflow.
- First version
- One licensed passage with aligned sentences, lookup and a local vocabulary list.
- Payment hypothesis
- Learning packs or exports; subscriptions only after repeated review and sync use.
- Constraints
- System translation and established language apps are strong substitutes.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Eight learners read comparable material. Stop without a second reading session or voluntary vocabulary saving.
- SEO
- parallel text reader · language reading app
Kitchen steps and timers
See the current cooking step, quantities and multiple timers.
Evidence and validation
- Observed reference
- Paprika already offers recipe scaling and timers; tabletop support is an ergonomic extension.
- First version
- One recipe, serving scaling, checked steps and two timers in a web tool.
- Payment hypothesis
- Use a free tool for search discovery; separately test paid family recipes and backup.
- Constraints
- System timers may suffice; wet-hand input is awkward, and kitchen liquid exposure should not be assumed safe.
- 14-day test / stop condition
- Six users cook one recipe. If a phone on a stand works equally well, keep the web tool only.
- SEO
- recipe scaler · cooking multiple timers
How to use this board
This board combines dbs benchmark thinking with gefei demand-first screening. References support features and commercial models; profit is unknown. Priorities depend on repeated tasks, a web-first test and system split-screen substitution. No numerical opportunity ranking is claimed.
Research used public English-language search and official pages on 2026-09-14, not a controlled regional Google top-ten audit. Prompting returned paid apps such as PromptSmart; PDF notes returned LiquidText; knitting returned knitCompanion and free web counters. Supply supports task signals, not low competition or sufficient volume.
Use a 14-day loop: observe real tasks on days 1–3, build a usable web test on days 4–6, observe reuse on days 7–10, then test paid delivery on days 11–14. Card thresholds are small-experiment proposals. No SEO impressions after 14 days calls for crawl and distribution checks, not an automatic no-demand verdict.
Validate the core task on the web first. Add a native app only for demonstrated value from storage, offline use, cameras or posture adaptation. Pursue one direction at a time, not fourteen thin SEO clusters.
Hardware and source boundaries
Apple announced iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. On this research date its developer hub still lists Xcode 27.1 beta as coming later this month. Developer videos demonstrate prompting and adaptive layouts. Surface Duo is a historical two-screen reference, not proof of flexible-display behavior. None of these concepts has been device-tested on iPhone Duo.
Inspiration includes the supplied Josh Dance and NSStudent social images covering maps, drawing, keys, tabletop games, prompting and comics. They are concept references; engagement counts are not demand evidence and the screenshots are not republished. Panels provides a comic-reader reference, but double-page display alone is not prioritized here.
